Description Cyproheptadine is a potent competitive antagonist of both serotonin and histamine receptors.[L32474] It is used primarily to treat allergic symptoms, though it is perhaps more notable for its use in appetite stimulation[L32519] and its off-label use in the treatment of serotonin syndrome.[A231274]
Indications and Usage For treatment of perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis due to inhalant allergens and foods, mild uncomplicated allergic skin manifestations of urticaria and angioedema, amelioration of allergic reactions to blood or plasma, cold urticaria, dermatographism, and as therapy for anaphylactic reactions adjunctive to epinephrine.
