Description |
Hyoscyamine is a tropane alkaloid and the levo-isomer of [atropine].[A228423] It is commonly extracted from plants in the _Solanaceae_ or nightshade family.[A228423] Research into the action of hyoscyamine in published literature dates back to 1826.[A228713] Hyoscyamine is used for a wide variety of treatments and therapeutics due to its antimuscarinic properties.[L31548,L31553]

Indications and Usage |
For treatment of bladder spasms, peptic ulcer disease, diverticulitis, colic, irritable bowel syndrome, cystitis, and pancreatitis. Also used to treat certain heart conditions, to control the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and rhinitis. |
